The Gurindji Takataka (sign language) project highlighted the use of sign languages in Kalkaringi by hearing and hearing-impaired alike as a means of enhancing hearing-impaired people’s participation in everyday life.
The project created 15 short films and a set of four posters, supported by Karungkarni Art, Batchelor Press, ICTV, CoEDL. This work on the newly formed Gurindji sign language with Karungkarni Arts won the 2019 ICTV Awards for Best Language Film.
